Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Initiative
Since 2005, Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative (TBHC) has offered a series of Disaster Preparedness trainings designed to help local nonprofits and healthcare service providers become better prepared to weather any storm - natural, economic or otherwise.

In 2010, TBHC hosted a discussion with our two local 211 agencies ( 211 Tampa Bay Cares- Pinellas County; 211 Tampa Bay - Hillsborough County ) where they shared their expertise in regional resource access and demonstrated how their information systems and staff can assist both before and after an emergency situation. Disaster Preparedness trainings this year also included a workshop presented in collaboration with Disaster Resistance Communities Group and the Florida Department of Health where nonprofits and federally funded health clinics developed their continuity of operations plan (or COOP) in time for the upcoming hurricane season. Past educational programs have included Continuity of Operations Plan (or COOP) Workshops, Expert Panels and Lessons Learned forums in conjunction with local groups such as American Red Cross - Florida's West Coast Region, Nonprofit Leadership Center of Tampa Bay, and United Way of Tampa Bay.
TBHC also educates at the community level with our Neighborhood and Community Preparedness program, an interactive training that places focus on meeting people's immediate concerns regarding emergency disaster-caused needs through encouraged collaboration and resource sharing within agencies and communities. We pledge to continue to bring together various local emergency management experts from the public, private and nonprofit sector to assist with our efforts in building a well-prepared, disaster-ready community.
