The Wellness Committee seeks to improve the physical and nutritional state of individuals within our community, through coordinated wellness activities and programs. It is the purpose of this committee to facilitate collaboration of various community groups, enhance the utilization of existing resources, and secure additional resources to promote healthy lifestyles through these actions. To achieve these goals, we partner with various community groups including local health departments. For example, the Wellness Committee and Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative (TBHC) partnered with the Pinellas County Health Department (PCHD) to support the 2009 “Step Up” challenge which included municipalities, worksites and community groups by promoting physical activity events. We continued this partnership with PCHD by promoting and expanding upon the Healthy Choices Restaurant program and the Florida On the Move initiative. Additional activities promoted by our Wellness Committee include supporting Tampa Bay organizations that are looking to start or expand their employee wellness programs. We achieve this goal by providing those organizations with Worksite Wellness Toolkits, guidance, and recognition for successful programs. Another piece of our work is to serve as a resource to connect wellness providers with opportunities for wellness promotion. Our Wellness Committee coordinated efforts include coordinating “Wellness Events” in multiple sites throughout the Tampa Bay area to promote healthy lifestyles, recognize wellness champions and workplace wellness efforts. Health is a primary public good that benefits families, communities, employers, businesses, and our country. The Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative believes that health care is a basic human right necessary for stable and productive communities.
Our Vision is to develop culturally competent healthcare organizations in the Tampa Bay area.
Our Volunteer Recruitment committee has developed the "I Can Help Now" program and we continue to build upon our awareness campaigns, which includes the final phase of this website. The collaborative is utilizing media created and designed by our committee. This program continues to attract medical professionals to our group of free clinics in the Tampa Bay area.
