Health Equity Committee

The vision of this committee is to develop culturally competent healthcare organizations as Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative (TBHC) works towards our mission of promoting health, wellness and safety in our community. The Health Equity Committee was created to realize this important feature of a healthy community through achievement of the following goals:

Complete an initial local needs assessment of Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative members.

Develop a working model to provide linguistic services (interpretation and translation) to members of the Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative.

Increase the multilingual and multicultural resources available to the Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative membership through a centralized resource tool.

Obtain resources for project sustainability including exploring funding opportunities to support these goals and objectives.

To achieve these goals the Health Equity Committee focuses on four key areas: Needs Assessment, Researching Best Practices, Services Offered and Sustainability. Through development of subcommittees related to these key areas, we work on a variety of issues related to Client Services as we assess current and future Cultural Competence needs in our local community and plan ways to address these needs.

In 2007, TBHC created the Cultural Competency Toolkit, a comprehensive site that offers resources and self assessments to aid in the development of culturally sensitive agencies in our local Tampa Bay community. To access the Cultural Competency Toolkit, click here >>.

Volunteers For Health

Our Volunteer Recruitment committee has developed the "I Can Help Now" program and we continue to build upon our awareness campaigns, which includes the final phase of this website. The collaborative is utilizing media created and designed by our committee. This program continues to attract medical professionals to our group of free clinics in the Tampa Bay area.

The Wellness committee seeks to improve the physical and nutritional state of individuals within our community, through coordinated wellness activities and programs.
