Vision:
To develop culturally competent healthcare organizations in the Tampa Bay area.
Goals and Objectives:
Goal 1
Complete an initial local needs assessment of Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative members.
1a. Determine what linguistic services (i.e., interpretation and translation) are currently
available for the Spanish speaking population.
1b. Determine what linguistic services (i.e., interpretation and translation) are currently
available for the Haitian/Creole speaking population.
1c. Assess the degree to which organizations address the 14 elements of CLAS
(Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Standards)
Goal 2
Develop a working model to provide linguistic services (interpretation and translation) to members of the Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative.
2a. Research and identify existing models/ programs to address the needs of the Tampa
Bay Healthcare Collaborative community.
2b. Modify the identified models/ programs to suit the needs of the Tampa Bay
Healthcare Collaborative community as appropriate.
Goal 3
Increase the multilingual and multicultural resources available to the Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative membership through a centralized resource tool.
Goal 4
Obtain resources for project sustainability.
4.a. Explore funding opportunities to support CLAS goals and objectives

Subcommittee Development
Subcommittee descriptions were discussed:

- Best Practices
This committee focuses on four areas: Needs Assessment, Researching Best Practices, Services Offered and Sustainability. It works on a variety of issues related to Client Services through assessing current and future Cultural Competence needs and plans ways to address these needs including researching funding opportunities and best practices.
Members present spent time updating the needs assessment draft developed by the subcommittee.
Logic Model
The logic model subcommittee focuses on strategic planning. It works to develop a workplan in a logic model format to address the cultural competency committee goals. The tool will be used:
1. as an internal and external communication tool
2. for incorporation into grant applications that mayo require it or components of it and
3. for evaluation purposes
Educational/Awareness
Increase cultural competency education and awareness through communication of information and resources.

Our first objective is to locate cultural competency trainings already established in the community.
