Health Equity in Action: What’s The Environment Got To Do With It?

September 15 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

$0.00

Healthy People 2020 defines health equity as the “attainment of the highest level of health for all people.”  To achieve health equity, the root causes of health disparities must be addressed. Environmental issues, such as climate change and sea level rise, can have profound impacts on population health. Environmental issues can be even more detrimental for individuals who experience socioeconomic disadvantage or historical injustice.

Join us on Thursday, September 15th from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM for an opportunity to discuss emergency prepredness and current environmental concerns such as climate change, sea-level rise and Zika. Meeting attendees will have an opportunity to brainstorm communication strategies around emergency and disaster preparedness to reach vulnerable populations in Tampa Bay.

Panelists include,

Gayle A. Guidash, MPH, REHS, Assistant CHD Director, Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County (Topic: Climate Change and Sea Level Rise)

Samantha Spoto, Epidemiologist, Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County (Topic: Zika)

Deborah Cragun, PhD, Assistant Professor, USF College of Public Health (Topic: Risk Communication, with a focus on Zika)
